Capetown Gin
The Company
Cape Town Gin & Spirits Co. was established in 2015 by Craig van der Venter and was one of the very first craft gin brands to go to market in South Africa. Named after South Africa’s historic and iconic Mother city, Cape Town, the brand immediately resonated with the consumer.
Fast forward to 2021, we see renewed focus on investment, marketing, an export expansion strategy (Africa, Europe, USA & Far East) and the release of a new SKU which has been met with great enthusiasm.
Furthermore, the brand has launched a home base and tasting room experience in the heart of the country’s number one tourist destination, the V&A Waterfront. With 24million visitors annually, consumers can now engage and experience the brand in all its guises.
With national distribution at all major retail outlets, online outlets and bespoke spirit merchants, these multi award-winning gins continue to capture the spirit of Cape Town in every sip. And the whole world has fallen in love with Cape Town Gin.
Inspired By Pavements, Moved By Footprints
To say Cape Town Gin & Spirits Company is passionate about Cape Town, and South Africa at large, would be an understatement. It goes beyond that – afterall, the brand and place are one and the same! In fact, the varietals are even inspired by the city – such as the Pink Lady Gin, named after the famous Cape Town landmark, the Mount Nelson Hotel. And the Rooibos Red Gin, honouring our world-class South African brew from the Cederberg region.
But it has always gone beyond that when it comes to the values of the organisation. “It’s so important for us to do what we can do to celebrate our beautiful country, as well as its diverse people,” explains van der Venter. “All the while continuing to preserve our heritage, honour our diversity, cultures and pay homage to South Africa as a whole. From the beginning, we aspired to create with heart, bottle with passion, and continue to hope that we can make some small contribution towards a legacy.”
